He was predeceased by: his father John Hoyda; and his brother Colin Hoyda. He is survived by: his mother Joan Hoyda; his siblings, Donald Hoyda (Laurie), Bob Hoyda, Sonia Hoyda and Lorraine Stefance; his niece Kate Weiland; and his nephews, Dr. Ted Hoyda, Paul Hoyda, Daniel Hoyda, Joshua Stefance, Kyle Stefance and Caleb Stefance. He is also survived by seven grand-nieces and nephews as well as seventeen cousins.
