He was predeceased by: his parents, Adam and Anila; his sister Alice Checknita (Tony); and his nephew Elmer Checknita. He is survived by: his wife Joy; his daughter Trudy Ewanik (Carey); his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Aidan Oatway, Carson and Emily Ewanik; his son James Leskewich (Thea); and his granddaughters, Jana and Courtney. He is also survived by extended family and dear friends.
A celebration of life was held on Thursday, December 4th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Connelly McKinley Edmonton South (4820 Meridian St NW, Edmonton, AB T6P1R3).
