Joy (Katherine) Bennett Obituary

Joy (Katherine) Bennett, nee Langill was a child of the Canadian North. Born to James and Margaret Langill in Rouyn-Noranda in 1937, she grew up with her brother Bert in Kirkland Lake.

Joy met a charming Englishman, Richard Bennett, in Elliot Lake, where they married in 1961. They moved west to Uranium City (Eldorado) in 1963, where they raised their children Jim and Deborah. With Joy by his side, Richard rose to the top of the mining world, and they moved to Ottawa in 1979, and then back out west to St. Albert in 1982. After 10 years with Echo Bay Mines in Lupin NWT, Reno, Nevada, and Denver, Joy and Richard settled down to retire amongst their family in St. Albert.

Joy lost Richard in 2021 after 60 years together. She is dearly missed by her son, Jim Bennett; daughter, Deborah Kuin; her son-in-law, Peter Kuin; grandchildren, Krista (Darcy), Kourtney, Kevin (Melissa), Kelly (Zach); and great grand kids, Aralynn, Oren, Elias, Remy & Calvin. Joy also leaves behind her brother's family the Langill's in Orillia; Richard's family the Bowmans in Kingston; and her cousins the Joy family scattered Canada-wide. Jim and Deborah are especially thankful to Joy's great friends Mary and Maryann, and Rita, medical people, and Driving Miss Daisy of St. Albert who took care of her over the years.

In keeping with Joy's wishes, cremation has taken place and her cremated remains will forever rest with Richard. There will be no service, but encourage donations to the MS Society, in Joy's memory.
