He was predeceased by: his parents, Marjorie Oates and Melvin Oates. He is survived by: his wife Maxine; his children, Justin (Jennifer), Kyle and Adam; his stepchildren, Carli, Leah and Nolan; his grandchildren, Madison, Wren, Kendrick and Cooper; his siblings, Brenda (Mike) and Sandy (Mary); and his pet Trixie.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 4th 2026 at 3:30 PM at the Park Memorial Chapel (9709 111 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T5G0B2).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kingsway Legion Branch #175 by calling 780-425-8754.
