He was predeceased by: his wives, Hilda Holwerda and Joanna; his daughter Adelaide Dykman; his granddaughter Julie Land; his son-in-law John Witten; and his parents, Willem and Grace of Vries.

He is survived by: his daughter Grace Witten; his grandchildren, Melanie (Harold) and Jamie (Ryan); his son-in-law Cam; his son Mike (Karen) of Vries; his grandchildren, Jason (Leanne), Shawn, Kimberly and Peter; his daughter Pearl Kapiniak (Thomas); his grandchildren, Taya (Darnell) and Antonia (Joseph); his son-in-law Derrick Dykman; his grandchildren-in-law, Bradley and Marie (Bryce); his daughter Theresa of Vries; his granddaughter Jeannine; his grandson-in-law Stephen; his daughter Hilda of Vries; and his grandsons, Luke, Kirk (Jennifer) and Travis. He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous relatives and friends.
