He was predeceased by: his wife Maria; his grandson Caleb; and his siblings, Wilhelm, Walter, Elsbeth and Gertrud.

He is survived by: his children, Lydia (Guy), David, Tim and Frank (Becky); his grandchildren, Stephen (Stephanie), Sarah (Shane), Daniel (Anne), Michelle, David, Kristin (Carl), Maria (Zech) and Anita; and his great grandchildren, Ariella, Aidan, Adalyn and Axel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Richard are greatfully accepted to Salem Manor, Leduc, where Richard lived the last 5 years of his life.
