Daniel Frank Keen Obituary
Daniel “Dan” Frank Keen passed peacefully, surrounded by family on June 4, 2026, in Edson, Alberta, at the age of 72.
Born on August 24, 1953, in Climax, Saskatchewan, Dan grew up in the community he always considered home.
Whether working on a vehicle, a computer, or just about anything else that needed fixing, Dan was always happiest with a project in front of him.
Dan will be remembered for his dry, sarcastic sense of humour, his ability to fix just about anything, and his determination to teach himself whatever caught his interest. From repairing small engines to exploring new technology and hobbies like 3D printing, he was always learning, building, and finding solutions to problems others had given up on. He appreciated the simple things in life: strong black coffee, vanilla ice cream, and time spent with the people he loved most. He never met a vegetable he enjoyed.
Among his greatest joys were the moments spent with his grandchildren, who brought him immense pride, plenty of laughter, and more than a few opportunities to pass along some bad habits.
He was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Gwendolyn Keen (East), his brother Ronald Keen, and his brother-in-law George Boardman.
Dan leaves behind his wife, Gail Keen (McGrath), his sister, Joanna Boardman, his children, Shylo (Melissa) Keen, Joseph (Kayla) Keen, and Jennifer Hoogerdijk, as well as his grandchildren, Levi Gauchier, Hunter and Herman-Daniel “HD” Hoogerdijk, and Delilah and Aliy Keen. He will also be deeply missed by his cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Respecting Dan’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service was held.
Those who knew Dan will remember his quick wit, steady advice, and willingness to help whenever it was needed. If something was broken, chances are Dan could fix it.
. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Daniel Frank Keen to pay them a last tribute.
