He was predeceased by: his daughter Sharlene Voeller; his siblings, Peter Ell, Helen Reber (Gordon), Tillie Fedoruk (William) and Edward Ell (Ella); his parents, Roy Ell and Luvella Ell; and his son Peter.
He is survived by: his children, Calvin Ell (Patti) of Grassy Lake, Marilyn Henderson (Arnie) of Medicine Hat and James Ell (Laura) of Spruce Grove; his son-in-law Fred Voeller of High River; his grandchildren, Michael Ell (Kris), Cory Ell (Corinna), Shawn Ell (Jill), Haley McLean (Brian), Denai Lanz, Tasha Lanz, Sarah Henderson, Nathan Ell, Noah Ell, Kole Voeller and Miah Voeller; his great grandchildren, Piper Ell, Taytem Ell, Emersyn Ell, Lennyx Ell, Telaine Lanz, Evan Lanz, Jayden Lanz, Brandon Ell, Brooklyn Ell, Asher Ell, Brianna Ell and Spencer Ell; and his children, Helen, Tillie, Edward and Philip. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
