He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Garland and Olive Garland. He is survived by: his wife Diane; his sons, David of Innisfail and Mark of Peterborough, Ontario; his grandson Zackery of Ottawa, Ontario; his brother Bob Garland (Joan) of Innisfail; and his close friends, Norm Hammel of Penhold, Barry Heistead of Innisfail and Doug Roberts of Innisfail. He is also survived by his family, friends.
