He was predeceased by: his son Eric Hlus; his brother Rick Hlus; his parents, Paul Hlus and Jessie Hlus; his brother-in-law Hermann Huijsink; and his parents-in-law, Conrad and Margaret Yost.

He is survived by: his wife Eileen Hlus; his children, Deanne Bolton (Steve), Donna Reeds (Kevin), Darrel Hlus (Leanne) and Erin Chmielewski-Tremblay (Nathan); his grandchildren, Danielle Newman (Steve), Kim Breland (Adam), Nicole Bolton, Alix Reeds, Jesse Reeds (Ashley), Silas Reeds (Alexandra), Charlize Reeds, Laramie Johner (Zarley), Bailey Hlus (Bari), Quinn Devine (Noah), Mathew Chmielewski-Tremblay (Kayla) and Jillian Chmielewski-Tremblay; his great grandchildren, Arlie Newman, Kirksen, Iliana, Haelyn Breland, Arden, Myla Johner, Lacey, Holly and Goldie Dawn Hlus; his siblings, Paulette Perram (Stew) and Robert Hlus (Walter Zicha); and his siblings-in-law, Esther Huijsink, John Yost (Melleny) and Bonnie Bray (Mark). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Innisfree Recreation Centre (5024 54 St, Innisfree, AB T0B2G0).
