She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Huyghe (Bob) and Agnes Huyghe; her husband Thomas Newby; her brothers, Johnnie (Florence), George (Eleanor) and Walter Huyghe; and her mother-in-law Annie Newby.

She is survived by: her children, Mark, Kari Newby and Dale Newby (Anton Sigouin); her grandchildren, Robert Newby (Baylee Goodrich) and Karali Newby; her great grandchildren, Calypso and Oliver; her sister Jean; and her siblings-in-law, Margaret Greenwood and Everett Greenwood. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations can be made in Elaine's memory to the Killam & District Health Care Foundation (KLTC) or the Bethania Lutheran Cemetery.
