He was predeceased by: his parents, Hardy Scheler and May Scheler; his son Rick Scheler; his brother Douglas Scheler; and his parents-in-law, Alan and Dorothy Brennan.

He is survived by: his wife Carol; his son Rob (Heather); his grandchildren, Derek, Curtis, Jared and Grace; his great grandchild Parker; his siblings, Betty Henderson, Pat Brennan (Stan), Carol Schmaltz (Dave), Peggy Prehn (Dennis), Donna McKay (Murray) and Tim Scheler (Daniel); and his brothers-in-law, Jim Brennan (Gwen) and Keith Brennan (Jean).
