Becky Gustavsen Obituary
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Becky Gustavsen on August 13, 2026.
Rebecca Mae van der Ende Gustavsen was born in Lonepine Montana on March 26, 1934, to Jessie and Ted van der Ende.
Becky grew up the youngest of nine children on a ranch in Western Montana. Her mother instilled in Becky and her siblings an ethic of hard work and concern for the wealth fare of others. Her mother, Jessie, also gave the family a lifelong interest in poetry and literature. Becky loved books!
Her family enjoyed laughter and she carried that enthusiasm for the rest of her life. If there was a game or a joke, she wanted to be a part of it. From her earliest years she was known for her eager smile and openness to friendship.
Becky came to Alberta to attend High School at CUC Academy. During her time at CUC, she met Verne Gustavsen, and they were married on July 1st, 1954. They settled in College Heights and never left. They had 4 children Jon Randall, Rick, Carole, and Eric.
Becky had six grandchildren and five great grandchildren with two more great-grandchildren expected soon. Becky was a very active and involved grandma and was often seen downplaying games with her grands. She was very proud of their accomplishments and careers.
Becky spent most of her working years as a Registered Nurse at Red Deer Hospital where she was a much beloved care giver. When Verne passed away in December 2021, Becky continued to live at Royal Oak Senior Center with her daughter Carole.
Becky had some health challenges over the past couple years and passed peacefully at the Lacombe Hospital early on the morning of August 13th, 2026.
Becky will be remembered for her beautiful smile. Positive and supportive attitude, and her willingness to be helpful to those around her. She was a blessing to all who knew her and will be missed by her family and community. Her family is comforted to know she now rests safely in the hands of her creator.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026 at College Heights Seventh-day Adventist Church.
