He was predeceased by: his children, Rod and Cathy; his parents, John Fritz and Magdalena Fritz; and his brothers, Joe and Alex.

He is survived by: his wife Teresa Merkl of Taber, Alberta.; his children, Roger (Vicki) and Valerie; his brother George; his sisters-in-law, Erna and Thelma; and his brother Randy. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
