He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Stern and Emma Stern; and his brothers, Arthur, Ernest, Emil and Clarence.

He is survived by: his wife Ruth; his sons, Gerald, Brian (Erna), Lorne (Zorena), Brad (Lorelei) and Neil (Debra); his grandchildren, Michael, Curtis (Ashleigh), Travis (Meagan), Kyle, Jessica, Tyler, Kamryn, Jason, Julianna and Benjamin; and his great grandchildren, Olivia, Sawyer, Kinsley, Leighton, Everett and Holden.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions can be made in the name of Ray Stern to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Thorsby.
