He was predeceased by: his parents, Eric Giles and Mary Giles. He is survived by: his wife Julie; his children, Mark (Kristina), Robert (Tami), Nicola (Abbie), Jennifer (Tod) and Helen (Greg); his sisters, Barbara and Helen; and his grandson Devon Giles. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to donate in David's honour are encouraged to donate to the Streets Alive Mission or Woods Homes in Lethbridge.
