He is survived by: his wife Frances Bates; his daughter Ronda Bates (Don Scansen); his granddaughters, Anna and Jane; his child Corry Bates (Brad Rawluk); his grandsons, Ben and Sam; his brother Melvin Bates (Vivian Morton); and his siblings-in-law, Sharon Bates, Phyllis Braithwaite (Dave Onufrechuk), Roger Braithwaite (Sandra), Lois Etherington (Gary), Marilyn Butz (Dorsey), Gordon Braithwaite (Karen) and Linda Romanchuk (Brent). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
