He was predeceased by : his son Alan; his parents, Emilie and Oscar; his brother-in-law John McDonald; and his significant other Pat Laing.

He is survived by : his children, Brien (Bryan Poirier) and Leslie Risling (Kelly); his granddaughter Kelsie (Corey Goddu); and his sister Lora McDonald.
