He was loved and cherished by many people including: his sons, Shane Dirk (Nancy) and Troy Dirk; his sister Diane McCartney (Murray); his granddaughters, Krystal Dirk and Theresa Dirk (Morgan Carnelli); his great grandchild Rowan Carnelli; his wife Darlene; his pet Suzie; his parents, Herman Dirk and Celestine "Sally" Winder; and his brothers, Mike Dirk and Joe Dirk. He was also cherished by numerous nieces, nephews and good friends.
