He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Louis Sauer and Anna Sauer; his wife Anna Marie Voeller; his children, Arlene Sauer, Mona Daniels and Darryl Sauer (Kelly); his grandchildren, Lisa (Matt) and Ryan (Amanda); his great grandchild Riley; his siblings, Emma Steinkey, Stan Sauer (Pat), Albert Sauer (Susan), Betty Parsons and Richard Sauer (Marlene); and his brother-in-law Fred Voeller (Carol). He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
