The family announces the passing of Mattheus Suykens of Okotoks, Alberta on October 18, 2026. Mattheus, born on May 30, 1933, was part of many shared moments and relationships throughout life. Mattheus will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around him. Friends and family will honour Mattheus by reflecting on shared memories and the positive influence he had in their lives. Though Mattheus is no longer present, the bonds he created and the experiences shared will endure. Mattheus’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew him.
He is survived by: his children, Anouschka, Ingrid, Christina, Nathalie, Eduard, Richard, Alex, Esther and Andrew. He is also survived by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; daughters and son in laws, brother, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Snodgrass Funeral Homes - Okotoks (200 Woodgate Rd, Okotoks, AB T1S1L2). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (300 Woodgate Rd, Okotoks, AB T1S2A5).
Donations can be made to the Foothills County Hospice Center in Okotoks where he peacefully passed.
