He was predeceased by: his parents, Maudie and Jay; his brothers, Larry and Robert; and his son Jimmy.

He is survived by: his wife Barb; his children, Darrel and Shauna (Murray); his grandchildren, Justin, Paige (Curtis) and Ashley; his daughters, Crystal (Shaun), Johnson, Tsulaynna, Octavia and Murdoch; his parents-in-law, Ed and Verna; his siblings, Glen (Gerry), Sammy, Louise, Susan (Dennis), Marion (Don) and Lorraine (John); and his close friend John.

Any donations in Darrel's memory to the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation, would be gratefully appreciated by Darrel.
