He was predeceased by: his mother Elsie Merrill; his wife Donna McGarvey; his father Charles Delbert Merrill; his parents-in-law, Edna and Leland McGarvey; his sisters, Ruth (George Cole) and Lois (Frank Vogel); his siblings-in-law, Aurla Dueck (Ed Dueck) and Chuck Lenton; his sons-in-law, Doug Erickson and Daniel Dusseault; his grandson-in-law Matt Thompson; and his grandson Nicholas Johnston.
He is survived by: his children, Lorraine Dusseault-Breitkreuz (Leo Breitkreuz), Everett Merrill (Darlene), Patsy Erickson (James Roberts), Del Merrill (Wendy Coulter) and Ken Merrill (Tara Rakai); and his sister-in-law Carol Lenton. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 2nd 2026 at 12:45 PM at the Ponoka Funeral Home (5115 50 Ave, Ponoka, AB T4J1R5). A burial was held on Saturday, May 2nd 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Forest Home Cemetery (5110 67 St, Ponoka, AB T4J1K3).
