He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Schmidt and Magdelena Schmidt; his siblings, Joseph (Hilda), Adam, George, Anthony, Ernest, Eva Williams (Dan), Mary Metz (Frank), Elizabeth Carlson (Jim), Helen Boechler (Richard) and Genevieve Wright (Jack); and his brother-in-law Charles Wright.

He is survived by: his wife Loretta; his daughter Michelle (Terry); his grandchildren, Lucas, Alexandria and Nicholas; his son Wesley (Stacey); his grandchildren, Hailee, Brett and Jenna; his daughter Wanda (Rick); his grandchildren, Kieran and Austin (Kristen); his daughter Brenda (Darcy); his grandchildren, Kellie (Dylyn), Kerry (Amy), Klayton and Kody; his sister Lena Wright; his sister-in-law Anne; and also, Scarlett, Layton and Kash. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
