He was predeceased by: his father Rudy Mottus; his wife Vera Mottus; his mother Myrtle Patapoff (Patapoff); his stepfather Bill Patapoff; his stepsiblings, Nancy Patapoff and Douglas Patapoff; his brother-in-law Joe Maki; his great grandchild River Rose Maisonville; and his grandparents, Gustav, Linda Mottus, John and Sophie Solberg.

He is survived by: his daughter Cathy Mottus-Landry (Marcel); his grandson Carter Mottus; his stepson Robert Kind (Shannon); his granddaughters, Chelsea Kind-Hougan (Johan) and Jenna Maisonville (Keith); his great grandchildren, Alina Hougan, Jai Hougan and Ember Maisonville; his sisters, Jean Maki, Helen Davenport (Les), Cheryl Gelinas (John) and Angela Mottus; and his stepsisters, Valerie Anderson (Norman), Debbie Sleno (Dave) and Susan Merrifield (Jim Babiuk). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
