He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklin Murphy and Norma Murphy; and his sister Jean Murphy. He is survived by: his wife Laura; his son Jonathan (Amber); his brother John; his niece Patti (Curt); his nephew Kelly; and his parents-in-law, John Radomski and Olga Radomski.

We played great music together and during the late winter nights after the gig, we'd borrow a toboggan from a neighbours yard and hit the river bank in Edmonton near our house till almost daylight. Jim was a friend with a very deep soul, and though many years have passed since our last hug, I will always carry his person and friendship in my life. He was a GOOD Man!”
