He was predeceased by: his parents, Matthew Thomas and Helena Thomas; his brothers, Edward Thomas and Calvin Thomas; his siblings-in-law, Joyce Thomas, William Stern and Eugene Kohlman; his great-nephew Grant Holte; and his siblings' children, Mark Stern and Beverly Holte.

He is survived by: his friend Sharon Haselwood.
