He was predeceased by: his sister Catherine "Ruth" Hunter; and his siblings-in-law, William "Buff" Kissinger and Kathy Kolmatycki. He is survived by: his wife Brenda; his sons, Jayme and Shawn (Lori Ann); his grandchildren, Kane and Brynn; his daughter Kim Field (Michael); his grandsons, Ben and Graham; his siblings, Betty Kissinger, Murray Hunter (Sandy) and Leila Schwartzenberger (Grant); and also, Tom Kolmatycki, Mick Kolmatycki (Muriel) and Bob Kolmatycki (Jane). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to farming Doug was always involved in the community in Caroline with volunteer contributions to Caroline Minor Hockey, Caroline Ag Society, Rocky Gas Coop (and Corridor Communication), Rocky Ag Service board, and 4-H.
