He was predeceased by: his father Joseph Cardinal; and his grandparents, Ben, Nora Matchatis, Michel and Velma White.

He is survived by: his son Nakota Peigan; his mother Shirley Cardinal of Cold Lake; and his siblings, Len (Jean) of Edmonton, Richard Hallock (Janet) of Grande Cache, Natalie (Clifford) of Saddle Lake, Ericka (Errol) of Saddle Lake, Suzy (Brian) of Cold Lake, Stephanie Buffalo of Maskwacis and Tina Buffalo of Maskwacis. He is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
