He was predeceased by : his parents, William Brertton and Matilda Brertton; his daughter Tina Steinhauer; and his siblings, Rita Quinney (Austin), Bertha Steinhauer (Roland), Lindsay Brertton, Emile Brertton, Tony Brertton and Bella Favel.

He is survived by : his daughter Sharon Brertton; his adoptive children, Carolyn Steinhauer, Raymond Quinney and Thomas Quinney; his grandchildren, CJ, Lyle Brertton, Ross, Colton, Dawson Steinhauer and Melody Favel; his siblings, Brian Large, Mike Whitford, Victor Houle and Gloria Moosewah; his aunt Florence Large; his nieces, Matilda Brertton and Rita Favel; his son Steven; and his spouse Rosile Steinhauer. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, aunties & uncles.
