He was predeceased by: his parents, Jim McAuley and Olive McAuley; and his sister Sharon Nessel. He is survived by: his significant other Jo; his sons, Chris (Jeanette) and Mike (Annie); his granddaughters, Madison (Malcolm), Melissa and Jessica (Cory); and his siblings, Gord (Rainy) and Sue (Andy). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, Sherwood Park United Church or the Strathcona Shelter Society.

“To Chris and Mike and family. Our deepest sympathy to you and all Jim’s family. Jim was a very thoughtful and giving man. In Sherwood Park he was Mr. Hockey dedicating countless hours to minor hockey and especially the Junior B Knights. He touched many hearts and will not be forgotten. We met Jim and Jo through hockey and enjoyed many years of friendship at the hockey rink, the curling rink, “smiley’s village” to name a few. We have many wonderful memories. Rick and Pat Bresciani”

“It is a very grey day as I loved both Jim and Joe. I did not know that Jo had passed. Crushed. Both were amazing and such pillars of the community. I met Jo when she ran classes. I was trained by her in Sherwood Park.(40 years ago) She was an amazing role model and so much fun to work for Worked with Jim as he pushed to get a Female division in SH PK Rep Hockey. He was so giving of his time and talents. They will be missed and never forgotten.”
