She was predeceased by : her mother Grete Hermansen Accepting; and her pet Rescue. She is survived by : her husband George; her children, Kyle, Sandy, Shelaine, Chandra, Jordie and Jill; and her brother Jan Ottar.
Rita is predeceased by her father Ottar and mother Grete Hermansen Accepting donations to the Slave Lake Animal Rescue in lieu of flowers.
