He was predeceased by: his parents, George Cowan and Sarah Cowan; his wife Harriet; and his siblings, Berta Taylor, Ruby Church (Eugene), Alex (Gladys), Ken (Emmy), Grenald (Jean), Clifford, Alvin, Leonard and Irvin (Norma).

He is survived by: his daughters, Lancy Dreger (Bruce) of St. Albert, AB and Bonnie Dell of Edmonton, AB; his grandchildren, Eden Dell, Jordan Dreger (Kendra), Danica Dreger, Connor Dell (Karly), Zachary Dreger (Lauren) and Brennan Dreger (Jenny); and his great grandchildren, Evelyn, Charlie Dell and Bo Dreger.
