John Frederick Archer Obituary

John Frederick "Fred" Archer passed away peacefully at the Valleyview Hospital at age 83.

Fred was born in Claresholm, Alberta, and he was the eldest of six children. The majority of his youth was spent in Beaverlodge, Alberta. Fred held various occupations in his lifetime. In Beaverlodge, his jobs included Manager of a Grocery Store, Volunteer Fireman, Ambulance Driver, and working at gas stations. In 1986, Fred's job with Petro Can transferred him to Stony Plain, Alberta. During his time in Stony Plain, Fred continued to work at gas stations, including Fast Gas in Edmonton. Again, he was a Volunteer for the Fire Department, a Groundskeeper of a Golf Course, Night Guard at the RCMP, and Manager of an apartment building. A big sports fan, Fred also enjoyed golfing, curling, hunting, and gardening. Many weekends were spent camping at Wapiti Gardens with family. The last four years Fred resided in Valleyview, Alberta.

Fred leaves behind his daughter Lee Ann Archer; son Jay Dee (Akiko); granddaughters, Tomoe and Chiemi; siblings; William (Tony), Joseph (Cindy), Mavis (Rod) Edey, Robert (Margret), and David (Jean-Marie); and his first wife, the mother of his children, Sharon Schwemler.

Fred was predeceased by his parents, John and Jessamy (Smith) Archer.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff, nurses and Dr. V. at South Valley Residence, and Valleyview Hospital, for their kind care of Fred.
