George Shapka Obituary
In loving memory of George Shapka (Vegreville, Alberta), who departed this world on May 28, 2025 at the age of 96. George leaves behind a legacy remembered by family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Wasyl Shapka and Helen Shapka; his siblings, Nick (Lucy), John (Dorothy), Alex (Irene), Pearl Romaniuk (John) and Mary Werstiuk (Mike); his stepchildren-in-law, John W. Chilibecki and Eve Shapka; and his stepsons, Larry Skolney and Douglas Soldan.
He is survived by: his sons, Barry Shapka and Brian Shapka (Cindy); the mother of his children Lorraine; his grandsons, Jeff, Terry (Ashley), Joey and Steven; his stepson Glenn Skolney; his stepgranddaughters, Jennifer and Kristen; his stepdaughter Laura Skolney; his stepgrandchildren, Jonathan, Greyson, Tara (Wayne) and Tanya Skelton (Jay); his stepdaughter Debbie Chilibecki; and his stepgrandchildren, Leanne, Lara (Daniel) and Leighton (Shelby). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A burial will be held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church (5705 51 St, Vegreville, AB T9C 1H8).
