He is survived by: his wife Elsie; his children, Barry (Brenda) and Darlene Schmidt (Bill); his grandchildren, Haley Hunka, Leah Torres Polo (Alejandro) and Alex Schmidt (Jill); his great grandchildren, Grace, Theo and Gavin Schmidt; and his sister Annie Zaharichuk.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to "Covenant Health Foundation – Mary Immaculate Care Centre – Mundare, Alberta.".
