He was predeceased by: his wife Lyda Berkan; his parents, Roy Berkan and Elizabeth Berkan; and his siblings, Patricia Sellers, Douglas Berkan and Brian Berkan.
He is survived by: his stepchildren, Marlene Schenstead (Eric), Dwayne Born, Sharon Pringle, Lynda Mari (Dean) and David Born; and his brothers, Neil Berkan (Sandra), Larry Berkan (Cheryl), Earl Berkan (Donald) and Warren Berkan (Maureen). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Reflections Funeral Services (4824 51 Ave, Vermilion, AB T9X1T6).
Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson Association of Alberta or a charity of choice.
