The family announces the passing of Violet Konkolus in Wetaskiwin, Alberta on July 9, 2026. Violet, born on April 7, 1933 in Wandering River, Alberta, was part of many shared moments and relationships throughout life. Violet will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around her. Friends and family will honour Violet by reflecting on shared memories and the positive influence she had in their lives. Though Violet is no longer present, the bonds she created and the experiences shared will endure. Violet’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew her.

She was predeceased by: her husband Rudy Konkolus; her parents, Humphrey Shupenia and May Shupenia; her siblings, Jim Shupenia, Bill Shupenia and Natalka Barnes; and her stepdaughter Linda.

She is survived by: her siblings, Katherine Goruk of Red Deer, Alberta and Roy Shupenia (Judy) of Smoky Lake; and her stepson Kevin McIver of British Columbia. She is also survived by many family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Cross Cancer Institute (11560 University Ave, Edmonton, Alberta, T6G 1Z2).
