He was predeceased by: his former wife Erna; and his siblings, Peter, Kay and Viola. He is survived by: his wife Anne; his sons, Wes and Gerald (Shari); his stepchildren, Sarah Blaney (Mark), Matthew and Luke Van Den Bos; and his sister Betty Heinrichs. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.
