It is with great sadness that we announce the death of George Henry Loewen (Abbotsford, British Columbia), who passed away on April 22, 2021, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his brothers, Henry and Peter. He is survived by: his wife Herta; his children, Evelyn, Leona, Ruth (Matt) and George Jr.; his grandchildren, Jillian and Meredith; and his sister Helen.

Due to Covid regulations, an invite-only graveside service is being held on Thursday April 29, 2021, at 1:30 p. m. For those wishing to watch, the service will be live streamed at the following link: https://www.legacystreaming.com.

“It was an honour to get to know Herta and George ... and to volunteer with them at the Canadian Diabetes Association meetings [now Diabetes Canada]. I appreciated attending the virtual funeral service for George and to hear his daughters and granddaughters relate their stories and love for him. He was a gift to the world and he and Herta were an amazing couple. I donated to Diabetes Canada in his memory.”
