He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Friesen and Frieda Friesen (Penner); his parents-in-law, Isaac and Lily Friesen (Vogt); his sister Louise Friesen; and his nephew Marcus Friesen.
He is survived by: his son Luke Alexander (Heather); his grandchildren, Isaac, Camden, Charlotte, Ty, Annika and Judith; his wife Trudy Friesen; his children, Michael Friesen and Deborah Friesen (Jennifer Klinck); his siblings, Henry Friesen, Frieda Janzen, Ed Friesen (Jane Oldham), Erika Friesen (Richard Ratzlaff), Mari Friesen (Ernst Amstutz) and Art Friesen (Cynthia); and his siblings-in-law, Irene Wiens (Werner) and Gerhard Friesen. He is also survived by ten nephews and nieces.
