It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of John Groot (Coquitlam, British Columbia), born in Edmonton, Alberta, who passed away on November 29, 2023, at the age of 59, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his mother Tina Groot. He is survived by : his father Adrian Groot; his wife Marla; his son Dean (Cianna); his grandchildren, Brooks and London; his pet Roscoe; his sisters, Joanne (Daryl), Wendy (Gary), Caroline (David) and Trish (Fred); his in-laws, Joe and Bette; and also, Micheal and Laura. He is also survived by 15 nieces/nephews, extended family & friends.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers please consider a donation in John's memory to the MSA Coalition, Parkinson Canada or to the Alzheimer's Society.

Jim Thompson wrote a sympathy message

“I was told John was looking for retired drivers. I meet with him being newly retired and it was like two old friends that hadn’t seen each other for some time. John’s amazing personality made everyone feel special just like family. I found out most of the crew were retired Safeway drivers who worked with John. They had the utmost respect, admiration, and loyalty for him. John was one of a kind, he will be deeply missed. My condolence goes out to Marla & Family for their sincere loss. Jim T”
