He was predeceased by: his parents, Cor and Ann; and his brother Harry. He is survived by: his wife Elaine; his sons, John Matthew and Zach; his sister Trudy; his niece Melissa; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Greg, Aaron, Derek, Cameron, Ryan and Ava; his niece Sharla; his nephews, Sean, Jeremy and Colin (Sara); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Briana and Damon.
