She was predeceased by: her parents, Jack and Olive; her husband Peter; her son Stacy; and her brothers, Robert and Larry.

She is survived by: her sons, Kelly (Cindy) and Darcy (Linda); her grandchildren, Daryl, Jamie, Krissy and Matthew; her great grandchildren, Gabrielle, Linken, Grady and Harlie; her siblings, Marylin, Ted (Marg), Alan, Terry, Daryl and Calvin; and her close friend Val. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

“I met Joan when her mother passed away. I was a young funeral director who was new to Courtenay. And for many years I would see Joan and we visited and became friends. Her raw sense of humour left me laughing and on guard, in the best sense. She was full of life and laughs, it was a joy being harassed by her and Marilyn. I’m sorry I am not there to care for my friend. She will be deeply missed”
