Emilie Backer Obituary
We bid farewell to Emilie Backer (Delta, British Columbia), whose journey of life gracefully concluded on April 30, 2026 at the age of 89. Emilie touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, George Reidl and Julianna Reidl (Yugoslavia); her brother John; and her sister-in-law Evelyn. She is survived by: her friend Eleanor; her children, Julie, Karen Reimer (Kevin), Nancy and Mark; her grandchildren, Owen, Sophie, Ashley and Jayden; her great grandchild Lucas; her cousin Agnes; and her sisters-in-law, Ruth Sweet, Eleanor Lutz (Calvin) and Marlene Sanders (Rae).
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 29th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Benediction Lutheran Church (5575 6 Ave, Delta, BC V4M1M2). The pandemic curtailed her ability to socialize and she grieved deeply after Arnie's death in March 2021.
