He was predeceased by : his parents, Neil Smith and Mabel Smith; his siblings, Irene, Lawrence, Leonard and Elsie; and his daughter Shannon LaRose (John).

He is survived by : his wife Colleen (Buckner); his children, Lorianne Friis (Andy), Steven Smith (Teresa) and Daniel Smith (Jess); and his brothers, Robert and Allen. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
