She was predeceased by : her husband Stanislaw Sokol; her parents, Maud Smith and Sydney Smith; and her brother Edmund Smith. She is survived by : her children, Roman Sokol (Susan) and Donna Thorner (Jim Thorner); her grandchildren, Leslee-Anne Nakasuji (Shun Nakasuji), Keith Sokol (Alicia Pretty), Kyle Sokol (Sandi Sokol), Christopher Van Rompaey (Kristyn Arruda), Nicole Van Rompaey (Cody Nickle) and Lorraine Henderson (Sonny Reno); and her great grandchildren, Oliver, Canaan, James and David.

Donations in Barbara's memory may be made to Toronto Humane Society, IFAW, Canadian Wildlife Federation or SPCA Montreal.
