Leroy Merland Dale Kisch Obituary
It is with great sadness that I announce the death of Leroy Merland Dale Kisch, husband of Iris A. Kisch (nee Bohaychuk), father of Sonny Dale Donald Kisch, son of Walter Kisch and Margaret Schaffer Kisch Hansen.
Dale was born in Camrose, Alberta, and attended school in Sangudo, Alberta. He met and married his wife while only 20 years of age. Both father and son were baptized in the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox faith in the church his wife's family helped to build.
Being mechanically inclined, Dale obtained his Masters Plumber and Gasfitter designation in British Columbia. He also attended university Mechanical Engineering courses, but unfortunately, was unable to graduate, due to work demands. Although he worked in many areas of his chosen trade, he loved the flexibility of service work, as this area presented many unique challenges and interactions with customers from all walks of life. Prior to his retirement, he accepted a position with a local school board. He loved the versatility of this position.
Dale also took courses in management, computer skills and marketing during his lifetime. He loved being a student and learning new skills. Dale also volunteered in the health care field, participating in numerous health care committees and boards in the Vancouver area. One of the highlights of this avenue of service occurred when he was invited to present to a medical group in Leduc, Alberta about Heart Health. We were all so proud of him.
Following certication from Stanford UniversityI as a certified workshop facilitator, he led many workshops through U-Vic Center on Ageing within the Vancouver area on Chronic Pain, Diabetes and Cancer. He loved working with people and helping them find avenues to better manage their health. Dale also volunteered with the Hope BC Citizens on Patrol, collaborating with other volunteers and the local RCMP on keeping peace and harmony within the community.
Dale and Sonny loved golfing and fishing. Many weekends would find them enjoying their favorite past time. They loved to enter golfing tournaments and had a great time, even when they didn't finish in the top. Each time, it was evident they had a great time, and bonded even more.
Dale is survived by his wife Iris, and numerous friends and family. He was predeceased by his son, Sonny Dale Donald Kisch, his parents, Walter Kisch and Margaret Schaffer Kisch Hansen, his step father, Cecil Hansen, two brothers, Robert Kisch and Wallace Kisch, and one sister, Geraldine Kisch Petter. He is deeply missed by his wife, and everyone who knew him.
Although he left us too soon, his legacy of love, understanding and caring endures and grows stronger with each passing day. Until we meet again my dear husband May you Rest in Blessed Peace.
