She was predeceased by: her son Robert; her parents, Lucien and Virginia; and her brother Lucien 'Ted'. She is survived by: her son Darren Carey (Jody); and her grandchildren, Zachary and Kacey.

Due to the current issues surrounding COVID, a celebration of Val's life will be held in the future.
