He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gilroy and Marie Gilroy. He is survived by: his wife Carol; his children, Richard Gilroy (Kristy) and Michelle Grice (Tom); and his grandchildren, Logan, Jackson Gilroy, Carter, Paige and McKenna Grice.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice House or the Canadian Cancer Society.
